VNIRO

The All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography (VNIRO) is the leading research institute of the fishery industry, which has more than 135 years of history. A research organization established to provide scientific support for government activities in fisheries management, coordination of the implementation of plans and programs for fishery research work of all fishery research organizations of the Russian Federation. VNIRO conducts scientific expeditionary research and develops biological substantiations of the total allowable catches (TAC) and the recommended catch of aquatic biological resources of the seas and fresh waters of Russia and the World Ocean. Scientific research of VNIRO covers the creation and development of scientific and technical foundations of fishery activities, protection, rational use, study, conservation, reproduction of aquatic biological resources and their habitat, aquaculture, and international activities.
