The Free Economic Society of Russia (VEO Russia) is the first civil society institution in the country, the oldest public organization in Europe and the world - founded by the Decree of Empress Catherine the Great on November 11 (October 31, old style) in 1765.

The Free Economic Society of Russia (VEO of Russia), having become the first institution of civil society in the country and, having established the highest standards of work, is guided by the principles of activities for the good of Russia, the benefit of society. Enlightenment, scientific progress, economic development for the welfare of the people and uniting for this the best minds of the country have been our main goals for more than two and a half centuries.
